Norman "Norm" Hart

October 8, 1939 — March 8, 2021

Rotterdam - Norman “Norm” Hart, 81, passed away on March 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of Harry H. Hart and Everil Reed Hart. He was married to Colleen O’Hare Hart. They were happily married for 59 years. Norm graduated in 1958 — the first graduating class of Linton High School. After graduation, Norm would join the United States Air Force where he served his country honorably and faithfully in the Schenectady Air National Guard.He was activated in the Berlin Crisis in 1963.He completed a four year apprenticeship and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 17. In 1980, he became the Town of Rotterdam Building Inspector until his retirement in 2002. He was known throughout the area as being a fair and respected individual. Norm was an original member of the Edgewood Independent Bowling League (EIBL), where he bowled for over 50 years. He enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed attending games at Yankees Stadium with his family. He coachedfor the Carman Little League, and the Rotterdam Babe Ruth baseball teams.He proudly helped many Boy Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, as well. He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen, his children; Doug (Sue) Hart, Donna (John) Gage, and Darrin Hart, his grandchildren; Kayla, Nick, and Colin Hart, Alexis and John Gage, Nichole and Dylan Hart, his brother, Robert (Judy) Hart,brother in law John (Adrienne) O’Hare, and sister in law Diana O’Hare, as well as many close friends, especially Margaret Alesio, a treasured family friend. He is predeceased by his parents, Harry and Everil, and his siblings; Harry, Ruth, Larry, and Loren and brother in law William O’Hare. Calling hours will take placeon Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 4pm-7pmat the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home,1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306. Please note that masks will be required to enter the funeral home, and that social distancing must be followed.
