Norma Dean

Altamont- Norma Dean of Altamont, NY passed away peacefully in her home on May 10, 2021 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Norma was born in Albany in 1931. She graduated from Altamont High School in 1950 and was married to the love of her life, Stanley, on August 1, 1954. Norma was a homemaker, raising four children of whom she was extremely proud. Once her children were in school, she worked as the Secretary at the Altamont Reformed Church for over 25 years. Norma also spent her time volunteering for the Altamont Elementary PTA, teaching Sunday School and working at the Altamont Free Library after retirement. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially celebrating holidays together. Norma enjoyed family vacations to the lakes of the Adirondacks, including Schroon and Paradox. Norma is predeceased by her son Robert and parents William and Emma Wallace. Norma is survived by her husband of 66 years, Stanley Jr., her son, Stan III, as well as daughters Diane (Steve) Van Buren and Nancy (Paul) Warner. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Andrea (Steve) Witham, Michael Dean (Scott), and Caitlyn Dean (Tucker). Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Community Hospice, particularly Leah and Melissa who helped take care of Norma. A private service will be held for family.
