Nora T (Chiacchiaretta) Messercola

Nora T. Messercola, 91, of Schenectady, died peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Nora was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Alphonse and Margurette Chiacchiaretta. She worked as an Aide at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville for over 20 years before she retired. Nora enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and bowling. In addition to her parents, Nora was also predeceased by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Kenneth Messercola and her sister, Fay Della Villa. Nora is survived by her sisters; Theresa (Anthony) Fusco and Eleana Barbieri, her niece; Sandra (Michael) Krawczak, who cared for Nora over the past 5 years as well as many other nieces and nephews, and “Her Girls”; Nora Tolliver and Carmen Torres, who lovingly cared for Nora for the past 10 years. The family would also like to thank the staff members at the Capital District Dialysis Center in Schenectady and at Holiday at the Atrium for the help they provided to Nora. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be private at St. John’s Cemetery.
