Noemi Acevedo

Rotterdam- Noemi Acevedo, 86, passed away on December 19, 2013, after a long illness. Noemiwas born on September 5, 1927 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Ramon and Josefa (Vargas) Gomez. She was married for 65 years to her beloved husband, Jose Acevedo. They were married on October 9, 1948 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Noemi was employed for many years by Coyne Industrial Laundry in Schenectady, retiring in 1993. She was a very loving person who will be greatly missed. Noemi is also survived by her son, Joseph Acevedo and his wife Joann; her granddaughter, Nicole Acevedo and her husband Collin Smith; her grandchildren Corbin and Naomi Smith; her sisters, Armida Ramos and Nilda Acevedo;her brothers,Manuel (Luz) Gomez, Jose Gomez, Hector (Evelyn) Gomez; her sister- in- law Aurelia Caban. Noemi is also survived by many nieces and nephews.She ispredeceased by her brothers, Ramon and David Gomez and her brothers-in-law AurelioAcevedo and Felix Acevedo. Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 22 from 5 to 7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. All are invited to a Monday 9amMass of Christian Burial at The Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish1803 Union St. , Niskayuna, N.Y.. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Rotterdam.
