Princetown - On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Nicola Lanaro, 86, of Princetown passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Francavilla alMare, Italy, Nicola immigrated to the United States in 1954. He enlisted in the US Army that same year and was deployed to the demilitarized zone in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Nicola had a long career in construction, a master stone mason and general contractor, starting with ILANO Construction Corp, becoming partner, then owner, then becoming the owner and president of Standard Stone Construction Corp which he operated for many years. Nicola also developed many properties around the capital district, an accomplished home builder. Nicola was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Concetta DiGioranni Lanaro and his sister Assunta Lanaro. He is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Cuomo Lanaro, whom he married in 1963; their four children. Joseph (Tina) Lanaro, Diana Taylor, Nick (Holly) Lanaro and Holly (Tim) Flower; ten grandchildren, Alexandra Lanaro Orzek, Christian Lanaro, Christina (Erik) Mastrianni, Dominick Taylor, Isabella Taylor, Nicolas Lanaro, Gabriella Lanaro, Tim Flower, Mackenzie Flower and Emily Flower; two great grandchildren, Lorenzo Mastrianni and Leo Agosto; his brother and sister, Angelo Lanaro and Anna Lanaro of Italy as well as many nieces, nephews, and God children. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Friday morning at 10:30 am. Burial will follow the service at St’s Cyril & Method Cemetery. The family respectfully requests memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made in his memory to a charity of choice.
