Rotterdam – Nicholas J. Parisi, 97, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. Nick was born in Amsterdam, NY to his parents, the late Joseph and Lena Parisi. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Bryant College. Nick honorably served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed throughout Europe. For 20 years, Nick worked as an accountant for the American Locomotive Company and later for another 20 years at the NYS Department of Tax and Finance. In his younger years, he was an active member of Our Lady Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Holy Name Society there. After his retirement, Nick enjoyed travelling the country and the world with his wife, Josephine “Jodi”, and especially spending their winters in California. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his cats. Nick was an exceptional cook, famous for his Sunday dinners which he always looked forward to. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Nick was predeceased in 2019 by his beloved wife of 68 years, Josephine “Jodi” Rudvilovitch Parisi and in 2020 by his granddaughter, Kiersten Spain. He is survived by his sons, Joseph M. Parisi and Michael J. Parisi (Donna Micheli); daughter-in-law, Margaret Parisi and his granddaughter, Michelle Parisi. Nick is also survived by his sister, Mary Anne Ammerall (James) as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will take place on Friday from 10-11am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam with a funeral service to follow at 11am. Nick will be laid to rest with Jodi at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Nick’s name may be made to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
