Nicholas Lucca

Schenectady – Nicholas Lucca, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Caserta, Italy, Nick was the son of the late Anthony and Maria Carmina (Rosina) Lucca and was raised by Mary (Pisano) Lucca. He came to the United States at the age of 4 and was a lifelong area resident. Nick honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a crane follower at General Electric for 24 years until his retirement in 1984. Nick was a member of the American Legion. His love for the New York Yankees was only second to his love for his wife of 51 years, Mafalda and his children, Anthony and Rosemarie. Nick enjoyed spending time with his family and watching TV especially old westerns. Left behind to cherish Nick’s memory is his devoted wife whom he married on July 23rd, 1966, Mafalda (Longo) Lucca, his son, Anthony Lucca (Marie) and his “dolly”, Rosemarie Bowers (Dave). Nick also leaves behind his 3 grandchildren, Stone, Anthony and Sofia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29th from 4-6pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Monday morning at 10am at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nick’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
