Nicholas A. Iacobucci

October 31, 1934 — March 13, 2024

Nicholas A. Iacobucci, 89, died peacefully at home on March 13, 2024, after a long stay in the Albany Medical Center ICU fighting illness.

Appropriately born on Halloween in 1934, Nick was the son of the late Antonio and Maddalena Iacobucci.  His childhood was split between Schenectady, NY, where he was born, and Caiazzo, Italy.  During his 20 years of service in the US Air Force that he joined in 1955, Nick worked as a jet engine mechanic.  He was stationed at various bases throughout the United States as well as overseas, including Germany, Thailand, and Okinawa.  While visiting relatives in Limatola, Italy, he met his wife Immacolata and married in 1973.

After military retirement, Nick and Imma moved back into his childhood home in Schenectady, NY and started their family, raising 2 boys next to their beloved Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where he was a lifelong member.  He was employed by his brother-in-law, Henry Frick, at Rand Manufacturing as a sheet metal worker, and was very involved with the church and its various activities and day trips.  The family also loved to be a part of the annual Festa.

When he wasn’t tinkering around the basement building rockets or model airplanes, Nick enjoyed going on road trips, especially to visit family in Connecticut where he was a raving fan of their homemade wine.  He also enjoyed attending air and car shows and volunteering at the Empire State Aerosciences Museum.

Nick’s last years were spent in the daily company of his 3 treasured grandchildren, where they would play games and watch movies together. He enjoyed being immersed in the chaos that the kids and dogs, whom he adored, would provide around his in-law apartment in their home.

Nick is predeceased by his wife, Immacolata Iacobucci, and sisters, Gertrude Frick and Carmelinda Davi.  Left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Tammy Iacobucci, and their children, Arianna, Autumn, and Luca of Glenville, NY; and his son Daniel Iacobucci of Wynantskill, NY. Nick will also be missed by his family both here in the states and in Italy.

The family would like to recognize and express their deep appreciation to Nick’s irreplaceable Stratton VA Home Based Primary Care Team: Dr. Aniko Fellegi, Rachel Ricks, RN, Laurie Alber, LCSW, Dr. Pamela Adamchick, Pharm-D and Jessica Morine, OT.  The family credits these amazing women with the success of keeping Nick at home for his last chapter of life.  Their unwavering love, support and time vested into Nick’s care and the family’s well-being went over and beyond anything you experience in the medical community today; they are second to none.  The family would also like to thank home health aide, Janette Gibbs, for her stellar skills, never ending patience, and loyal dedication to Nick over the last several months.

Calling hours will begin on Wednesday, March 20 from 9:00 a.m until 10:30 a.m at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St, Schenectady.  A committal service at the Saratoga National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
