Nicholas P. August Jr.

Rotterdam – Nicholas P. August Jr., 81, passed away Sunday September 21, 2025 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady he was the son of Nicholas P. August Sr. and Anne McFadden August. Nic was a graduate of Schalmont High School and attended Bryant College. A lifelong Schenectady area resident Nic served our country in the United States Army from 1966-1968. Upon returning from Vietnam Nic was honorably discharged and began his career at the General Electric Co. retiring as a project manager after 35 years.

Nic enjoyed spending time with family and friends, metal detecting, fishing, ice fishing during the winter months, He collected stamps and coins, enjoyed traveling and camping, loved his classic cars, two GTOs and his 1966 Corvette. He enjoyed taking pictures of all of life’s adventures which we will now cherish forever. Nic was an avid Yankees and 49ers fan.

In addition to his parents, Nic was predeceased by his brother Donald Edward August.

Nic is survived by his wife of 55 years Marianne August, daughter Erica (Kevin) Regan, two sisters Marie (Bob) Petrarca, Peg (Bill) Delaney, two step-grandchildren Abbi and Kevin, and abundance of nieces and nephews.

Nic was a very special man to all and will be missed dearly. He has touched us all with his love, laughter, kindness and sense of humor.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.

A prayer service will begin 11 am Tuesday at the funeral home and burial with military honors will follow at Sts. Cyril & Method cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Nic’s memory to the American Heart Association.
