Natale Savona

January 1, 1927 — February 13, 2025

ROTTERDAM - Natale Savona, 98, passed away on Thursday February 13th, 2025 surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and family. He was born in Sora, Province of Frosinone, Italy on January 1, 1927 to the late Gerardo and Angela Savona. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Maria and brothers Antonio & Domenico. He was happily married and a devoted husband for 73 years to the love of his life Maria (eloping after knowing each other for one day) and immigrated to America in 1950. He was so excited to start their new life together. Maria passed in February 2023. Natale worked as a master baker at Davidson’s Bakery in Scotia and then was hired by GE Steam Turbine as a welder in 1968, retiring after 19 years. Natale was a real family man. “La Famiglia” was everything to him. He petitioned for his parents and 6 siblings to immigrate to America to share the American dream. As the patriarch of the Savona family, he and his wife opened their hearts and home to their growing extended families and friends. His kindness and generosity knew no limits. His greatest joy was gathering everyone for Sunday dinners where many memories were made and shared around the dinner table. The house was always filled with laughter, music, dancing, and of course, all of the great food. The respect and love he received from everyone — family and friends, was immeasurable. Natale was a world traveler and enjoyed frequent trips across Europe, the US, and Israel. He especially enjoyed quick trips to Atlantic City, Vegas, and Rivers Casino close by. Natale was an avid gardener that always harvested the most beautiful produce, often playing Italian music for his vegetable plants. He also thoroughly enjoyed his craft of making homemade wine. His gift of storytelling was his way of sharing the values & traditions that were important to him … hard work, taking pride in whatever you do, always placing family first, and enjoying life to its fullest. The man has left us with an unbelievable legacy.

Natale is survived by his loving & devoted children Angela (Paul - deceased) Trudell; Joe (Kristine) Savona; grandchildren Scott Trudell (Korrina Greeley); Jeremy (Nichole) Trudell; Jennifer (Brian) Williams, Michael Savona, and Nicholas (Delilah) Savona; great-grandchildren Lucas, Riley, Pippa and Nico; along with many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Luigi Savona (Amelia), Maria Venditti (Benedetto-deceased), Rita Cianfarani (Armando-deceased), and Uncle to many nieces and nephews. As the Patriarch of La Famiglia he will always be in our hearts. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Kevin Costello - Albany Med, Dr. James Fetten - Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Community Hospice - Laura Davis & Chi Lee, Dr. Stephen Piacentine - St. Peter’s, and especially Nelly O’Hea for their love and exceptional care.

Visiting hours will be at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady on Thursday, February 20th at 4 pm (family) and 5-7 pm.
