Nasser Navidar

Nasser Navidar – avid mathematician, naturalist, film-lover, and exercise-enthusiast – died while visiting with his children in Guilderland, New York on July 3, 2022. Nasser was born in Khorramshahr, Iran in 1946. A lover of nature, he hiked many of Iran's mountains including Bimaloud, Damavand, and Taftan. Nasser persevered through many difficult life circumstances, rebuilding his life in Tehran amidst the Iran-Iraq War with a newborn baby. In 1995 Nasser immigrated to the United State after a 6-year separation from his family. He rebuilt his life again in a new country, attained his Master degrees in Mathematics and Education, and taught in several colleges in the United States. Over the years, he taught in Ohio, New York, Tennessee, Colorado, South Carolina, and finally, Georgia. He made a home in Milledgeville where he loved his students, colleagues, and teaching mathematics at Georgia College. Nasser loved Pixar movies, jogging and futball, Persian poetry, The Chicks, Bruce Springsteen, Abbas Kiarostami films, Alfred Hitchcock, hiking, adopting stray cats, browsing Barnes and Noble, teaching, giving thoughtful gifts, video chatting with his grandson, making silly faces, laughing, singing,and sharing the joy and wonder of life with everyone around him. He was a kind and gentle soul whose presence delivered an air of peace wherever he went. Nasser is survived by his children Nahal and Kousha, his grandson Nima, and his siblings Bahiyeh, Habibeh, Mansour, Nayereh, Houshiyar. He was preceded in death by his sister Tahereh and his parents Tafttoun and Abdolrasoul. Nasser has friends and family in Sweden, Australia, Iran, Italy,Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, who mourn his loss deeply. A memorial will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022, 11 a.m. EST at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Ave in Guilderland, NY.
