Rotterdam - Nabil Khalil Lakah, 74, passed away on Monday June 30, 2014 at Ellis Hospital after a short illness. Born on December 12, 1939 in Cairo, Egypt, Nabil was the son of Khalil and Rose Lakah. Before coming to the the United States, Nabil resided in both Egypt and Belgium. While living in the United States Nabil was self-employed. He loved being around people telling jokes and singing whether in Arabic, French or English. He will be remembered as being very proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Nadia, whom he married on October 27, 1963. Two daughters; Brigitte Lakah of Florida and Nathalie Lenehan of Duanesburg. 4 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. His brother; Joseph Lakah of Heliopolis, Egypt and his cousin Marie-Jeanne Lakah of Geneva, Switzerland. Along with his parents, Nabil was predeceased by his brothers, Antoine and Albert. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Glendale Nursing Home and the staff of Ellis Hospital (C6). Calling hours will be held Saturday from 8-10 am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church 210 Princetown Rd. Burial will follow at St. Cyril's Cemetery.
