Schenectady- Milton Bruce Santora, “Bruce”, 75, died suddenly after a long illness on May 28, at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, NY. Formerly of Santa Lane in the Colonial Manor in Rotterdam, NY, Bruce was born and raised in Schenectady, and was the beloved son of Mary and John Santora, both now deceased. Bruce graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, with honors, from the technical electrical department, and went to Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ where he received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (E.E.), graduating summa cum laude. From there he continued his education at Union College in Schenectady where he obtained his M.S. in E.E. While at Rutgers, Bruce was inducted into two international engineering honor societies- Eta Kappu Nu and Tau Beta Pi. Both societies recognize not only scholastic achievement, but character, attitude and citizenship as well. After college, Bruce worked for the Knolls Atomic Power Plant, which became Martin Marietta, a subsidiary of General Electric in Schenectady. A long time Red Sox fan, Bruce was incredibly well-versed and knowledgeable about anything “baseball”. He could recite statistics and personalities dating back to Abner Doubleday to Joe DiMaggio to the stars of today. His biggest thrill was seeing the great Ted Williams in person at historic Fenway Park. His lifelong baseball idol of all time was the wonderful Willie Mays. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling on his company’s team and playing softball. A classic movie buff, Humphrey Bogart was his favorite star, always citing “Casablanca” and the “Maltese Falcon” among his favorite films. Bruce is survived by his loving sister, Donna Maria, of Schenectady, and his dear cousins and close friends. Bruce will be interred at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie, NY.
