Schenectady - Mildred (Millie) LaMalfa passed away on January 11, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Geneva, NY on April 30, 1920 she was the youngest daughter of eleven children born to Fred and Mary (Grosso) Monaco. She was predeceasedby her beloved husband Marion (Babe) LaMalfa. She graduated from high school in Geneva and came to Schenectady as a young woman to be with two of her sisters who were living there. She worked for GE during World War II and became a wife and homemaker after the war. She loved to bowl and did so in leagues for many years. She also loved to play pinochle and 500 rummy with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's parish until she was no longer able to attend mass and loved her God and her Catholic faith. Millie was one of the most positive and upbeat people you would ever meet and she kept those around her smiling with her wonderful sense of humor. Besides her husband she was predeceased by eight sisters; Philomena Flynn, Vener Grosso, Margaret Carey, Mary D'Amico, Esther Monaco, Josephine Felice, Rose Grosso, and Ann Balcom and two brothers; John Monaco and Fred Monaco. She leaves behind her niece and nephew, Carol and Robert Grosso, who were her caregivers during her later years along with many other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews down through five generations.She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a future date to celebrate Millie's life.
