Michelle Marie (Begor) McCorry

On October 5th, 2024, Michelle (Shelly, Mish) Marie (Begor) McCorry left far too soon for eternal rest after an unexpected fight, departing while surrounded by her closest family and friends at Ellis Hospital, 66 years of age.

Michelle was one of three girls to be born on February 15th, 1958, to Nancy Marie Changelo and Thomas Begor of Plattsburgh, NY at CVPH. While her sisters, Mona (Begor) Gaylord and Maureen (Begor) Hoskins, were identical, Michelle was not. During her years at Saranac High School, this proved true in different ways. She involved herself in numerous social circles, clubs, and even sports, such as volleyball and cheerleading.  There Michelle met many lifelong friends, and even her future husband, all the while joined by her closest friends yet, her sisters. Her relationship to them grew each birthday they celebrated together, and she was loved dearly by her mother and grandfather, Vedo, who watched her grow into a lively young woman that everyone wanted to know. Her spirit was something everyone needed, and Michelle had the soul of a weathervane, shifting to meet the needs of any discouraged friend or exhausted coworker, always open to a new experience or idea, ready to take on any coming storm. It was for this reason she tried so many things in her life, from cosmetology to shoe sales, eventually settling into a career in commercial insurance, in which she absolutely thrived on bringing smiles to both client and coworker. On November 21, 1996, Michelle gave birth to her only daughter, Aubrey Ann Pierce. From there, Aubrey was Michelle’s world, and she dedicated Aubrey’s early years to nurture a relationship that would last to infinity. Called back to work, Michelle remained an active member of her church, a loving member of her family, and a focal member in many friend groups, all while managing a full-time job and raising her daughter with the utmost care and love. After many years, Michelle reconnected with an old highschool flame, and soon found herself in the beginning of a long and loving relationship with her future husband, Richard L. McCorry. What developed from there is nothing short of an example of the purest, most honest, perfect love, that spanned the next 17 years. They were married in a lakeside ceremony (after much anticipation) on September 16, 2022, and lived with full hearts thereafter.

Some of her favorite things to do were the simplest and purest, like swimming, relaxing in nature (especially any beach), watching football or a movie, playing a board game or simply going for a walk, (which she enjoyed often), but no matter what Michelle was doing, she would do it with someone she loved by her side. To say she was a “people person” was an understatement- Michelle thrived on love. She had a unique ability to be loved by everyone who knew her, and more importantly, could love anyone she met through empathy and kindness. Coworkers and friends of family knew her for her unique humor and light in any situation. She had a bond with her friends that lasted years, treating them akin to family. The love she gave her daughter, her husband, her mother and her sisters is something special, something that can only be felt by the luckiest of people, something so powerful we will still feel it, until we meet her again.

It is with that love that her family now goes forward, and Michelle can live in love forever.

Michelle is survived by her daughter Aubrey Pierce, husband Richard L. McCorry, her triplet sisters Mona Gaylord and Maureen Hoskins, father Ed Palyswait, nieces Jessica (Hoskins) Flannery and Lyndsay (Gaylord) Ausfeld, nephew Joshua Hoskins, stepson Ricky McCorry, and countless friends and family who will miss her dearly. She was welcomed into heaven by her mother Nancy Changelo, and grandfather Vedo Changelo.

Michelle has been privately cremated. Memorial calling hours will be open to the public on Wednesday October 16th from 1 to 3pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, preceding a private service for the family.
