Michele A Calandra

Schenectady - Michele Arcangelo Calandra, 88, of Schenectady died on Thursday December 22, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 8, 1934 to Giovanni and Consiglia Calandra in Melizzano, Italy. While in Italy he served in the military and later worked as a chef in Switzerland prior to immigrating to America in 1963. Once in the United States he settled with his family in Gloversville, New York and then in Schenectady where he spent the majority of his career working at General Electric until he retired. He and his wife Caterina then enjoyed over 20 years in sunny Port Richey, Florida until recently returning to Schenectady to be with family again. Michele loved his family, friends, gardening, good food, soccer and westerns. Michele was predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Consiglia. His brother Gioseppe and sister Maria. Michele leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years Caterina (Insogna) Calandra and his children John (Rebecca) Calandra and Joseph (Elizabeth) Calandra. His brothers Filiberto, Carlo and Egidio. His sisters Michelina and Emelia. His granddaughter Tori and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Schenectady, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St, Schenectady, NY. Private entombment will follow at St's Cyril & Method Cemetery.
