Michael (Mickey) J. Viscusi, 78 of Rotterdam died peacefully with his family by his side on October 30, 2015.He was born on September 22, 1937 in Schenectady, a son of the late Joseph and Carmella Viscusi, and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. Mickey was a kind, generous, companionate and devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and friends with all his heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mickey was a proud co-owner of the local family business Casa Visco Finer Foods, where he worked for over 60 years, and served in the NY Army National Guard, 105th Army Infantry. He loved spending time with his family, especially his 4 cherished granddaughters, whom he took great pride in through many dance recitals, plays, academic and athletic successes and milestones -but mostly for the fine young women they have grown to become. Mickey relished his time spent in Florida, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of hanging out with (and cooking for!) his friends and neighbors and the many rounds of golf he was able to play during the winter months. As much as he loved Florida, he always looked forward to coming home to spend the holidays with his family. During the summer he was a regular at Schenectady Muni Golf Course, where he played in and hosted his own golf league. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rosaria (Guagliardo) Viscusi, a son Michael Viscusi and partner Gina Robinson, a daughter Marisa Dodge and husband Dan Dodge, forever a loving "Pop" to granddaughters Bianca Viscusi, Felicia Dodge, Daniella Dodge, and Talia Viscusi, a brother to Marlene DeAngelus (Donald), Joseph Viscusi (Marcia), Linda Adams (Michael), and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday November 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, 9am followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Schenectady. His family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the C-1 wing of Ellis Hospital for their compassionate care. Offerings can be made to the American Cancer Society.
