March 23, 1960 — May 21, 2021

Schenectady – Michael R. Furman, 61, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 21st, 2021 after fighting a brief illness. Born in Niskayuna, Michael was the son of Patricia Bradt Bryan and the late Andrew Furman Sr. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Mike worked as a security guard at Kingsway Arms Parkland Gardens for many years and also owned and operated his business, Positive Karaoke. In his earlier years, he was a disc jockey at several area radio stations. Mike was a sports card enthusiast and a diehard NY Mets and Atlanta Falcons fan. He was an outstanding cook with some of his specialties including chicken francaise, beef stew and sausage and peppers. Mike loved his Corvette and Christian music of all kinds. Above everything else, Mike was a family man. He excelled at his roles of husband, father and grandfather. Whether playing Battle Bots, video games or swimming with his grandchildren, their time together brought him so much joy. When Mike was around you could guarantee lots of jokes and laughter. Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Muriel Hoffman Furman, whom he married on March 22nd, 1980; loving daughters, Melody Kot (Christopher) and Harmony Furman (Joshua); adored grandchildren, Lucas, Arabella and Axel Kot; his mother, Patricia Bryan and his siblings, Andy Furman (Tami), Kathy Suarez (late Will), Marcia Parker and Lewis Parker Jr., as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his father, Andrew, Mike was predeceased by his infant daughter, Christina and brother, Leon Bradley Jr. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10am-12pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam with a service to follow at 12pm. Interment will be private at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady. Mike’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on E1 at Ellis Hospital, especially Dr. Aimalohi Gray, and nurses, Allie, Jason and Alex, for their attentive care, guidance and communication during Mike’s time there. A special thanks to Pastor Steve and Bethel Full Gospel Church for their prayers and support.
