Rotterdam – Michael Anthony Famolaro Sr., 77, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Michael was born and raised in Utica, NY and was the son of the late Anthony J. Famolaro and Genevieve DiPierro Famolaro. A hard worker from a young age, that trait stayed with him all his life. Michael worked for 37 years as a self-employed carpet installer with his brother, Bobby, and further continued on with his son Michael Jr. for several more years before retiring. He was a wonderful provider. His life mission was to support his family in every way possible. In 1970, Michael married the love of his life, Patricia Abbott Famolaro. Together, they raised twochildren, Michael Jr. and Brenda while remaining close to Michael’s children, Mary Rose and Tony and their families throughout the years sharing many good times and vacations. In his younger years, Michael enjoyed fishing and bowling. He bowled with several leagues throughout the area and lived life to the fullest. An avid sports fan, Michael loved watching the NY Yankees and Sunday football on TV, while enjoying his macaroni and meatballs. He also took pleasure in maintaining his vegetable garden each summer and his occasional visits to The Rivers Casino. Michael leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia Famolaro; his children, Mary Rose Reinhardt (Bobby), Tony Famolaro, Michael Famolaro Jr. (Stacy Harvey) and Brenda Moncur (Arrel); his grandchildren, Earl, Markie, Francesca, Danielle, Brittany, Michael III, Joey, Cassius, Ryan, Arrel, Aiden and Carem; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Joann Desmarais (Stephen); sister-in-law, Sandra Famolaro as well as many special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Michael was predeceased by his siblings, Bobby Famolaro and Katherine Rabbia. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:30-1:00 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm.
