Mercedes "Mercy" (Bellaud) Aziz

Guilderland – Mercedes “Mercy” Aziz, 86, passed away on Friday, May 5th, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Manchester, NH, on May 8, 1930, Mercy was the daughter of the late Jean and Urilda (Belanger) Bellaud. She was raised and attended school there and graduated from Notre Dame de Lourdes School of Nursing in 1951. For many years Mercy worked as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire and New York City and retired from St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY in 1995. It was while working as a nurse in New York City that she met her devoted husband Francis “Frank” Aziz. Their loving union of 62 years began on September 4, 1954. Mercy was a long-time parishioner of St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland, joining the parish in 1965. She had a great love for her parish family and spent her years there as an active member of many groups and service committees…she enjoyed being a member of the choir and Christ Child Society. She was also an avid traveler, visiting many corners of the world with her husband, Frank, as well as other family members and dear friends. Accompanying her always on these trips was her camera, for she loved to take pictures of all she saw and share her memories with us. Most importantly, she loved her family. She cherished being a wife, mom, and especially a Memere. Her memory will be held by her husband Frank, their loving children, Kathleen Sargent (Bob), Terry Anne Walton (Charles), Elaine Musselman (David), David Aziz (Chris), Deborah Owen (Peter) and Daniel Aziz (Renee), her brother, Louis Bellaud (Pauline) and her sister-in-law, Claire Bellaud. She also leaves behind 15 loving grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mercy was predeceased by her siblings, Jean Paul Bellaud and Itha Bellaud. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9th, from 5-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike in Guilderland. On Wednesday morning a prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 10:45 am and will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 11:30 am at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY 12303. Interment will take place at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Rotterdam. Memorial contributions in Mercy’s name may be made to the St. Madeleine Sophie Parish or to their Christ Child Society at the Church address listed above.
