Rotterdam - Melvin C. "Skip" Preddice, 76, passed away suddenly at home on Monday June 3, 2013. Born in Niskayuna, he was the son of Collin and Marjorie Campbell Preddice. Melvin graduated from the former Mt. Pleasant High School and then went on to receive his associate's degree from Hudson Valley Community College. He was employed by WRGB as a camera man and then went on to work for the New York State Senate and Assembly before retiring. Skip enjoyed photography and taking videos of his family. He also liked to watch western movies and gambling at the casinos. Skip enjoyed the people at Broadway lunch and his wonderful neighbors at Esquire Village. He is survived by his three daughters; Debbie (Camille) Hajjar, Dana Palleschi and Darlene (Keith) Lawyer. 5 grandchildren; Christina Preddice, Adam & Matthew Lawyer, Deanna Hajjar and April Buechner. Skip was predeceased by his daughter, Deanna Preddice and his son-in-law, Oliviero Palleschi. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
