Melinda G (Iacobucci) Davi

September 7, 1930 — July 30, 2018

Schenectady- Carmelinda “Melinda” Davi, passed into eternal life in the early morning hours of Monday, July 30, 2018 at home with her children and two family cats at her side. Melinda was born in Schenectady on September 7, 1930, the eldest daughter of Antonio and Maddalena Iacobucci. She was a Mont Pleasant High School graduate. Before starting a family, she worked several years for NY State in Albany, NY. While raising her children she volunteered in various clerical roles at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church and school. Later she worked for many years at Ellis Hospital in the Telecommunications Department. Fluent in Italian and conversant in Spanish, she constantly utilized her language skills to translate and write for family, friends and neighbors. While at Ellis, she was regularly called upon to help with translations for non-English speaking patients in crucial medical situations. Throughout her life, she was an animal lover nurturing more than a dozen cats, including several neighborhood strays that found their way to her door. She had a special gift for understanding and helping animals which she turned into the most wonderful family pets. Melinda was a woman of great faith. She prayed especially to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, St Anthony of Padua, St. Francis and St. Giuseppe Moscati. Travel was another special enjoyment. She traveled extensively across Europe with her daughter on multiple excursions. Because she loved the sea shore, there were also regular trips to Florida and Ogunquit, Maine. Melinda was predeceased by her parents, a sister Gertrude V. (Henry) Frick and her former husband Gabriel L. Davi. She is survived by her beloved son Michael, cherished daughter Elaine and a brother Nicholas Iacobucci, along with several nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held Saturday August 4, 2018, from 8:30-9:30 am at DeMarco- Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Heldeberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Fr. Dominic Isopo, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady.
