Schenectady NY – Matthew Ryan Castillo, passed away unexpectedly in his home on February 21, 2017 at the age of 28. Matthew is survived by his daughter Gabriella Castillo, his mother Lori McGrath, his step father Dave Figueroa, his father Jose Castillo. Brothers Michael, Jesse and Joey Castillo and his sister, Jennifer See. Matt left behind many cousins but one cousin he never strayed too far from and loved dearly was his “Cuzzo” Katy Baxter. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles cousins nieces and nephews. Matt leaves behind many friends and his dearest friend and mother of his child, Jenna Gray. Matthew was predeceased by his Grandmother and Grandfather, his uncles Billy and Christopher McGrath and his young cousin Greg Nelams. Matt was born in Beacon NY on July 30, 1988. He graduated from Forest High School in 2005 in Ocala Fl. After moving to Schenectady, Matt began going to school for barbering at Austin’s School of Spa Technology. Matt had a number of jobs ranging from cutting hair, roofing, framing houses and landscaping. Matt was known for being a hard worker in whatever he did and loved working outdoors. After 4 years of being with Jenna Gray, the couple introduced their daughter Gabriella Rose Castillo into the world on March 3, 2015. His daughter will remember her father as a loving, nurturing, fun father that she adored being around. Matt was a man of many trades, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. From being a handyman around the house to giving the best haircuts around. His clients and friends admired his talent and skills when it came to cutting hair. Matt like to look good and he liked his clients and friends to look good as well. Matt was a generous,fun loving and kindhearted soul. He was an absolute joy to be around because of his kind spirit and his ability to make people laugh. Many people would find it hard not to like him. Matt enjoyed many things from spending time with his family , all different genres of music, fishing ,playing sports ,cutting hair ,building things and working out at the gym and striving at his goal to be a personal trainer. Matt’s biggest achievement and proudest moment was becoming a father to his beautiful daughter Gabriella whom he called ‘Gabby Goon”. Matt took pride in being a father and loved his daughter and family dearly. Matt was an active member of NA meetings and his friends he met overtime going to meetings and programs became nothing short of family to him. Family and friends are invited to call the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Monday February 27, 2017 from 6 pm to 7 pm. Immediately following funeral services will begin at 7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Matt’s Life.
