Matilda V Canto

Rotterdam- Matilda V. Canto, 87, at rest Saturday June 7, 2014. Matilda was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Rocco and Jennie (Laporta) Vitelli. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She was employed as a Payroll Clerk with General Electric in Schenectady for 36 years. Matilda was the beloved wife of 57 years to Michael Canto (2005); beloved mother of Sandra (John) Petty and John (Cherie) Canto; beloved grandmother of Kelli Reedy, Amy (Eric) Richardson, Christopher (Becky) Petty; doting great grandmother of Daniel and Kaitlyn Reedy, Jakob Richardson; beloved sister ofJosephine Riccio, Mary Coblish and the late Nicolina Borrelli. Matilda is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 11 from 5 to 7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin Thursday 8:45am at the funeral home, followed at 9:30am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
