Schenectady - On June 14th, 2023 our sweet loving, beautiful Marykate Desantis passed away unexpectedly.
Marykate was born in Connecticut and raised in Schenectady.
She is survived by her loving parents James and Jill Desantis and by her siblings Kevin Safford, Taylor Desantis and Samuel Desantis, by her ex-husband and childhood sweetheart Charles Hempstead Jr. and by Delanie Lucarelli’s father Joseph Lucarelli.
She is also survived by her five precious children Izabella Hempstead, Kilee Hempstead, Dylan Hempstead, Delanie Lucarelli and Gracie Hempstead.
Mary Kate dreamed of being a mother. Her greatest loves were her five children, Izabella, Kilee, Dylan, Delanie and Gracie. She loved to do crafts with her kids and always made sure they were having fun and being active outdoors. She was a devoted mother and supported her kids’ interests, especially most recently her daughter Izabella’s basketball.
Marykate will always be remembered as being a loving mother, a rescuer of stray and abused animals especially dogs. Marykate went out of her way to be supportive of all troubled teens and children she encountered with her big loving heart.
We will leave her in the loving arms of her grandmother whom she loved and missed dearly.
A visitation will be held for family and friends to pay their respects on Tuesday, June 20 from 12-2pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A service will follow at 2pm.
Memorial donations in Marykate’s name may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
