MaryAnn LaMalfa, 98, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. She was born in Amsterdam, NY, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Placida Fappiano Perillo. MaryAnn worked for several years at the General Electric Co. and later as a Secretary at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Rotterdam. Throughout her life, MaryAnn was an avid seamstress and spent most of her life working out of her home. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed cooking and baking traditional Italian treats for her family and friends, especially around the holidays. Her favorite hobbies included playing cards, reading and trading books, completing crosswords and hosting her furry friend, Bailey. In addition to her parents, MaryAnn was also predeceased by her beloved husband Philip J. LaMalfa whom she married in 1947, and her brother, John Perillo. She is survived by her children; Steven (Marlene) LaMalfa of Lakeland, Fla., Rita (James Love)DeNisio of Mariaville and AnneMarie (Daniel) Nolan of Pattersonville, her brother Frank (Betty) Perillo of Wellington, Fla., seven grandchildren; Anthony LaMalfa, Denise Clausterman, Melody Junk, Carmine (Sarah) DeNisio, Joseph (Christine) DeNisio, Patrick Nolan and Danielle Nolan as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A calling hour will begin on Thursday morning from 10-11 am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Memorial service to follow at 11 am. Burial will be at St’s Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam. Memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of one’s choice
