d. September 24, 2014

Mary "Jene" Spawn Jene Spawn, of Guilderland (Westmere) passed away at St. Peter's Hospice Inn on September 24, 2014 at the age of 85, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jene was born in Albany, NY and lived her entire life in Guilderland. She was the daughter of Thomas and Agnes Golden. She graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany and at 20 years of age she married the love of her life, Leslie Abram Spawn in 1949. They started their life together by building their own home and raising a family in it, where many celebrations were held with family and friends. Even after her husband's death in 1989, Jene continued to live in and care for her home with independence and love. Through the years, Jene worked as a secretary and office administrator, retiring from the Guilderland School District as secretary to the principal at Farnsworth Middle School. She made many friends in the school district and enjoyed working and socializing with them as well as maintaining those friendships after retirement. Jene and Les enjoyed many things together, but most of all they enjoyed camping. They loved traveling with their camp trailer and visiting many campgrounds and sites throughout the northeast. Other favorite interests of Jene were reading and gardening. Over the years she maintained beautiful flower beds with the help of her good friend, Mary. She also enjoyed spending the winter with her sister Del in Florida. They had a special bond and love for each other. She truly loved her family and supported them in many ways. She will be greatly missed by all of us but we are grateful to have shared in her life. She is survived by her sons, Garrett (Donna) Spawn and David (Susan) Spawn, her beloved sister, Adele Garrett, her grandchildren, Barbara Spawn-Paul, Kevin Spawn and April (Emil) Jubrey, her great grandchildren,Cierra Paul, Jordan Spawn, Maddy Spawn, Shauna Jubrey, Cheyenne Jubrey, Celine Febbie, Civanna Febbie and Timothy Febbie III,her sister in law, Betty Spawn, several nieces and nephews, and a lifelong friend, Janey Senecal.
