Mary Theresa Serapilio

January 23, 1946 — October 11, 2024

It is with profound sadness to announce that my beautiful Wife, of 57 years, Mary, left my side to join our parents in the loving care of Christ. Mary Theresa Carr was born on January 23, 1946, to the loving union of John F Carr and Mae (O’Brien) Carr. Mary was a resident of Schenectady County for her entire life, attending St. Columba’s Middle School, Notre Dame and graduating from Mont Pleasant High School. While in high school she met the man, she would forever say she knew she would marry. In 1967 she did just that. Mary worked as a beautician for several years only to pause and become a stay-at-home mom to her four children Christine Massaro, Jennifer Serapilio (Keith Williman), Charles J. Serapilio Jr. (Annemarie Serapilio) and Michael J. Serapilio (Lindsey Serapilio). She returned to the working world in the mid 80’s, working in Schenectady Police Court and Schenectady County Court for the New York State Office of Court Administration until retired in 2014. Mary had an infectious smile that never left her. In her teenage years she was a talented seamstress, making her own prom dress. She was always happy, always a smile to give and always an encouraging word to say. Mary’s family was her greatest devotion, her greatest hobby. In 1977 when her sister-in-law Beverly passed, she proudly took on the role of surrogate mother to her two girls Kathleen and Eileen. Everything she touched she made beautiful, she loved to decorate her home and move the furniture at least once a week. Mary’s greatest pastime was going for ice-cream, her favorite being her hot fudge sundaes. In the year 2000 Chuck and Mary found their paradise in Siesta Key, Florida. After finding their favorite place many friends and family followed. They would travel there every year until 2022 when Alzheimer’s Disease did not permit it anymore. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Charles J. Serapilio, Sr. her four children, her niece Kathleen (DeNero) Cole (Dan), Kathleen (Kevin) Bette, Eileen (Terry) Bean of Maine, her 7 grandchildren, Sydney (Serapilio) McClaine, Sophia and Isabella Serapilio, Guilianna Williman, Anthony and Charli Mae Massaro, and Gavin Serapilio, and several other great nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday October 15, 2024 from 4-6 pm, at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam, NY 12306 from.
