Rotterdam - Mary E. (Cooke) Rzeszuto, 35, of Frank St., Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 15, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 2 year battle with brain cancer. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Shubel R. Cooke Sr. (2011) and Louise Merritt Cooke of Schenectady. Mary lived her entire life in the Schenectady/Rotterdam area and was a 1995 graduate of Schenectady High School. She was a Paraprofessional at King Elementary School in Schenectady and was a former night manager at BJ's Wholesale Club and the Price Chopper Voorheesville warehouse. Most important, Mary was a devoted wife and mother. Her entire family was always the most important thing to her. Mary had a zest for life and always had a smile on her face. Mary was truly adored by all who met her and she made a huge impact on so many lives. Her true joy was time spent working with children as an educator and coach. Mary was an avid gardener and was well known for her extraordinary ability to cook and bake. Her favorite activity was going camping with her family. She is survived by her husband, Kevin, who she married on April 15, 2000. Her son; Aidan. Her mother Louise. Five siblings; Shubel R. (Krissy) Cooke Jr. of PA., Tracie (Dave) Knutti of Princetown, Christina White (Bob VanValkenburgh) of Rotterdam, Marilyn Cooke of Saratoga and Sherry (Jerry) Brown of Scotia. Mary is also survived by several adored nephews and nieces, and her faithful dog Paddy. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Susan Weaver and the staff at NYOH, St. Peter's Hospice Inn and the close friends who supported us through this journey. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Saturday from 12-3 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A funeral service to celebrate Mary's life will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring at Viewland Cemetery.
