Mary Immaculate (Pasquariello) Riley

Rotterdam – Mary Immaculate Pasquariello Riley, 91, of Rotterdam, NY passed away Thursday, January 11th, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Schenectady, NY on December 8th, 1926 and was the daughter of Vincenzo and Adelaide Clemente Pasquariello. When Mary was just two years old, her father passed away and the family moved to East Boston, MA. Mary graduated from East Boston High School in 1945. Upon her graduation, the family moved back to Schenectady where she began her career at the General Electric Co. She worked in Building 2 Printing Services from 1945-1962. At just 20 years old, Mary lost her mother whom she adored. On November 27, 1954, Mary married Earl John Riley and they recently celebrated 63 wonderful years together. After waiting patiently for eight years she finally had the children she longed for. Stephen Jay Riley (deceased 2007), Marilyn (Steven) Tommasone, and Barbara Jean (Frank) Marotta, all of Rotterdam. She was blessed with six grandchildren who were the light of her life. Stephanie Tommasone, Brittany (Kevin) Knightes, Valerie Tommasone, Nicholas, Christopher, and Justin Marotta. Mary is also survived by her sister Olympia Luise of Lynn, MA, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Barbara Giusto Rigaud of Roswell, GA who was like a daughter to her. Mary loved caring for her family. She loved cooking, baking, and having her family around. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, crafter and storyteller. She had an infectious laugh that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, January 14th from 4 to 6pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Monday morning at 9:15am at the funeral home and will be followed by a mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Road. Entombment will be at St. Cyril and Method Cemetery. Mary’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Schenectady County Hospice for the excellent care and compassion in her final days.
