SCHENECTADY - Mary L. (Aldi) Korkosz, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Schenectady she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Hazel Mae (Gifford) Aldi. Mary was in the first graduating class of Mohonasen High School class of 1960 and attended the Albany School of Nursing.
She worked for the Golub Corporation in Schenectady in the Human Resources Dept. for many years retiring in 2005.
Mary and her beloved husband, John were deeply involved with their community including Bellevue Little League and Babe Ruth, Cub Scout leaders and their church, Immaculate Conception in Bellevue, where she was a member of the choir. Mary was also secretary for the women’s organization, Home Bureau and served on the board of the Bellevue Preservation for many years. She enjoyed spending time with the many friends she made over the years while raising her family and into retirement. Mary was a devoted and supportive grandmother, attending many of her grandchildren’s events and activities. Aside from her time at work and with her family, Mary was an avid reader with a passion for history and politics. She put her knowledge to the test every morning by completing the daily crossword puzzle in the local newspaper, and every night at 7:30 when she tuned into Jeopardy.
Wife of the late John S. Korkosz; mother of Kevin (Kathleen) Korkosz, Michele (Michael) Charlton and Wendy Korkosz; sister of Gary Aldi and the late Arnold Aldi and Arlene Krisanda; grandmother of Julia, Emily, Hannah and Abigail Korkosz, Maxwell and Johnny Charlton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mary’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, January 5, 2024 in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd. Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may also visit with her family on Thursday January 4th from 4-7 pm in the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady. Interment will be in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam. Those who wish may send memorial contributions in Mary’s name to The Reading is Fun Program, PO Box 9437, Schenectady, NY 12309.
