Mary R (Stewart) Ketcham

Guilderland - Mary Ruth Ketcham passed away at Ellis Hospital on December 2nd. She joins her beloved husband of 50 years, Walter, who died in 2001. Born in Brooklyn on January 6th, 1929 to David Stewart and Ruth Tierney Stewart, Mary was one of three daughters and three sons. A devoted wife and mother of 6, Mary was a terrific homemaker and an outstanding cook. All were welcome in her home and there was always room for one more at the dinner table.She most enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. She remained feisty till the end, telling the nurse the night before she passed that she felt "ipsy-pipsy". Mary is survived by siblings, Peter Stewart (Maureen), Charlotte NC, Ruth Woods, Concord NH, Amy Martin, Asheville NC, her children, Walter Ketcham, Rochester NY, Karen Ketcham, Glens Falls NY,Nancy Broad, Jacksonville NC, Mary Ann Ketcham, Ravena NY,Susan Kerr (Kevin), Clifton Park NY and Alicia Kagas (Spiro), Esperance NY, three grandchildren, Lauren Kerr, Cohoes NY, Allyson Durango (Carlos), Sunrise FL, Stephanie Gray (Jesse) St. Petersburg FL and three great grandchildren, Alexis Durango, John Durango, Caleb Gray. She will be sorely missed by all including her dear Peek-a-Poo, "Pumpkin". Calling hours will be 5-7pm Friday, December 6th at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike (just west of Carman Rd.) in Guilderland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Saturday, December 7th at St. Madeline Sophie Church 3500 Carman Rd in Guilderland. Interment follows at Memory Gardens in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Community Hospice or the ALS Foundation at St. Peters Hospital in Albany.
