Schenectady - Mary W. Fedasz, affectionately known as "Mimi" to her family, entered peacefully into eternal life at the Teresian House on Monday, October 24, 2022. Mary was born on February 26, 1930, to the late Aunfer and Mary (Niekasz) Fedasz of Schenectady. Mary lost both of her parents at a young age and grew up on Marx St. with the Zapp and Valentino family. Mary graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady and went on to work for the NY Telephone Company (now Verizon) for over forty years. Mary was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. Growing up she took them to movies, the circus, and the Maine shoreline. She was a frequent visitor at their homes as well as babysitter. At Christmas, she overwhelmed them with gifts often labeled from “Santa Claus”. And she loved them as if we were her own children. Mary was a kind soul generously giving of her time and talents to her community. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America serving in many capacities of the organization. She served on and worked with Schenectady government committees to improve the Central State St. Neighborhood. She helped others learn to read as a Literacy Volunteer. One of her greatest loves was her church, St Luke’s. Mary was a life long member there. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the choir. She worked hard volunteering in retirement with Mary Jane to make the Pantry a great place. Mary had an adventurous side as well. She wanted to fly and one of her greatest achievements was getting pilot’s license in 1972. Mary’s caring also extended to animals. She loved animals and cared for many in her life most notably her childhood dog, Sean and her favorite cat, Pumpkin. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Malacynski and Anne Bogdan as well as her parents. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Susan Bogdan (J. Michael) Ritty of Feura Bush, Catherine (Frank Jr.) Graziano of East Greenbush, Andrew (Ellen) Bogdan of Latham; loving great aunt of Frank Graziano III, James (Courtney) Graziano, Matthew (Lindsay McAleer) Bogdan, and Christopher (Susanna Cai) Bogdan; loving great-great aunt to Dominic, Vincenzo, Landon, and Luca Graziano and Mackenzie Bogdan. The family wishes to thank the Carmel Garden Team of the Teresian House for the excellent care provided to Mary during her time there.
