Mary Katherine (Mcquade) Dickerman

Schenectady - Mary Katherine "GeeGee" Dickerman (née McQuade) passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, New York on April 14th. Mary was born in Schenectady, New York on June 30th, 1924 and was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph, her mother, Alice (née McDermott), and siblings Margaret and Edward. Mary formerly worked in the payroll department of General Electric, in the dietary departments at the former Glenridge Hospital and Glendale Home, and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Glenville Fire Department. While a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Mary was also a member of the Sons and Daughters of Ireland. Mary lived the final years of her life close to her family in Valley Falls, New York. She is survived by her husband Frank of nearly 64 years, her dear cousin Jim McDermott (Mary Ellen), her son, Leo, daughters Susan Derkowski (Clay) and Ann Hutchins (Richard), grandchildren Kevin (Lauren), Katlyn (Nate), Kyle (Laura), Amy, Brooke, Zachary, Elizabeth and great-grandchildren Braelyn, Lainey, Callen and Adalyn. Mary cherished her family, her Irish heritage, and the New York Mets, and she always left room for dessert. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 11:15 am Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
