Mary A. DeGeorgia, 101, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully,on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Ellis Hospital. Mary was born in Catskill, NY, the daughter of the late Antonio and Marionella Tripoli.Mary worked for several years for the General Electric Co. before starting her family. She later worked at Casa Visco in Rotterdam, "A job she loved doing". Mary was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was also a member of the Mt.Carmel Seniors and cooked at the Mt Carmel festa for 50 years.In 2013, Mary was recognized as "Senior of the Year" in Schenectady County when she celebrated her 100th birthday. Her life was devoted to her family, her friends and her church. In addition to her parents, Mary was also predeceased by her beloved husband, James DeGeorgia Sr., her daughter and son in law, Marion and William Glen, five brothers; Peter Tripoli, Dominic Tripoli, John Tripoli, Nicholas Tripoli and William Tripoli, her step son, Ralph DeGeorgia, and her granddaughter, Cheryl. She is survived by two children;Dorothy Paupst of Schenectady, her son, JamesDeGeorgia of Schenectady, step daughter, Rosemary (Joe) Sukatski, her sister, Florence Liszewski of Schenectady, 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be private. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated on Monday, 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Mary's family would like to say thank you, to the Doctors and nurses who cared for their mother, and a special thanks to "Aunt Delores" Fazio and Michelle Phillips. Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY, 12208 or online at heart.org.
