Mary Rose (Abate) Corvene

Mrs. Mary Rose Abate Corvene Cape Coral, Florida - With her work on earth completed, Mary Corvene was called to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her family in heaven on Wednesday February 12, 2014. The daughter of the late Joseph & Caroline abate, Mary was born on Feb. 17, 1920 in Pittston, PA. and lived her childhood and teen years in Pittston. She enrolled in 1945 in Eastern Bible Institute, Green Lane, PA., where she graduated as a minister of the Gospel in 1949. She then traveled extensively as an Evangelist through Western PA. and Eastern New York. During her senior year in college, she pastored an Assemblies of God Church in Rosetta, PA. She also pastored for a brief time in Shanksville, PA. In 1953, she was ordained and Assembly of God minister. She married Anthony Corvene of Amsterdam, NY in October 1955 and they resided in Schenectady until they retired in 1983 when they moved to Lakeland, FL. While in Lakeland, she was active in the Carpenters Home Church, serving on the official Board of Deacons. Anthony predeceased Mary in February 2000. While living in Schenectady, Mrs. Corvene pastored Calvary Tabernacle A/G, Albany St. from 1958-1968. She then pastored Highway Tabernacle A/G, in Mechanicville, NY from 1968 until she retired in May 1983. Mrs. Corvene is survived by her loving son, Neil, who she lived with the past 5 years in Schenectady. In July 2013, they both moved to 1108 NW 42nd Place, Cape Coral, Florida 22993. She is also survived by her loving granddaughter, Beth, her brother Charles Abate of Phoenix, AZ., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Santa Buscemi, & brothers Joseph, Samuel, Leonard, of PA. & Louis Abate, Springfield, MO. Mary enjoyed a long and fulfilling life. She had an abundance of love, wisdom, care and comfort that she shared with everyone around her. Her greatest joy was doing the Lord's work.
