Delanson – Mary Elizabeth Commarto, 88, of Delanson, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday August 30, 2016. She was born in Gilboa NY on November 1, 1927 to John and Eleanor Vrooman Davis. Mary graduated in 1945 from Gilboa Central School. Afterward; she came to Schenectady and lived with her Aunt Catherine and Uncle Keyes Davis of Scotia until August 1949 when she married James T. Commarto. Mary worked for 14 years at GE as an executive secretary and had many years of self employment with her husband James. She then became a happy, loving mother, grandmother and later a great grandmother. She was also a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady. Mary was always an avid animal lover, she especially cared for cats. Her family often referred to her having nine lives. Her strong will and personality helped her carry on through the years. Mary was predeceased by her husband James of 60 years, her beloved son Samuel, granddaughter Nancy and her sister Ruth Weaver. Mary leaves behind a brother John Davis of Florida, a daughter Nancy (Peter) Mienaltowski, and son Thomas (Colleen) Commarto. Grandmother of Matthew (Pamela) Mienaltowski, Melissa (Darren) Walsh, Samuel Commarto, Thomas Commarto, Samantha (Joe) Packard, James Commarto and Tallie Christopher- Commarto. Her great grandchildren include Allison and Logan Mienaltowski, Luke and Alexander Walsh and Ava Mae Millington. Family and friends are invited to call at DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Thursday September 1, 2016 from 6 pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 2, 2016 at 10 am at Zion Lutheran Church Schenectady. Interment will be private at Saratoga National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the caring and supportive staff from Home Instead. Without their help Mary would not have been able to rest comfortably at home with her family and beloved pets.
