Wake Forest, NC – Mary Victoria Caprara, age 89, formerly of Schenectady, passed away on Wednesday, November 1st, 2017. Mary was born in Schenectady and was the daughter of the late Henry and Laura Canali. Mary was loving, warm and welcoming to all. She was a mom to many, not just her own children. Having the gift of finding the positive in even the most negative situations, she was an ever present voice of reason. Mary and her husband, Emilio lived their lives for their children; their family was their pride and joy. An incredible baker and cook, Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Besides her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband, Emilio D. Caprara, her son, Joseph H. Caprara and siblings, Eugenia Alteri, Connie Mercoglan, Joseph Canali and Vincent (Jimmy) Canali. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathleen Lewis (Walter) of Raleigh, NC, Paul Caprara (Mary Lou) of Niskayuna and Bruce Caprara of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, her sister, Anna Pigliavento of Schenectady, sister-in-laws, Anna Johnson and Nell Caprara (Angelo). She also leaves behind the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Amy Fuhr, Jenness Clairmont, Joseph (Chachi) Caprara, Dawn Kowalczyk, Jillian Caprara, Walter W. Lewis III, Tyler Lewis, Brittany Lewis, Jamie Burditt, Nicholas Caprara and Christian Caprara and nine great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7th from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. On Wednesday morning a prayer service will begin at 8:15am at the funeral home and will be followed by a mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 9am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., in Schenectady. Interment will take place at St. Cyril and Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
