Mary Z. Cappiello, 91, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at home after a short illness. She was born on March 30, 1921 in Alvigliano, Caserta,Italy, the daughter of the late Rocco and Amelia Altieri Zullo. Mary attended Nott Terrace High School. On December 8, 1940 she married Constante Cappiello. He passed away on October 11, 2009. Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Schenectady Women's Etude and a volunteer at St. Clare's Hospital Women's Auxiliary affiliated with the Cobblestone Church of Rotterdam. Mary was a gifted artisan who loved life, being involved in social activities, and was very adventurous. She is survived by two daughters, Lucille (George) Desimone and Elaine (Joseph) Montepero, both of Rotterdam; sister, Madeline (Robert) Paddock of Agawam, MA;grandchildren, Lisa (Carlos) DeSousa of Guilderland, Yvonne (Paul) Calkins of Rotterdam, Erik Desimone of Florida, Michele (Mark) Battaglino of South Carolina, and Jennifer (Glenn) Law of California. Also survived by great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Anthony DeSousa, Janelle and Nicole Calkins, Olivia and Julia Battaglino, Mia and Faith Law; and several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many friends here and in Florida due to her magnetic personality. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Amelia Kimball. Special thanks to her last aide from Home Health Care and her hospice nurse, Jim. Also a very special thanks to her granddaughters, Lisa and Yvonne, who provided continuous comfort and care of their grandmother. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Memorial services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with Rev. Emile Jacquet officiating. Those attending may follow in procession to St. Cyril's Cemetery where burial will take place. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O.
