Marolynn Kaye (Barhydt) Jensen

September 11, 1938 — July 7, 2022

Rotterdam- Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Marolynn Kaye (Barhydt) Jensen, of East Campbell Road in Rotterdam, passed away on the afternoon of July 7th at 83 years old. She was born to Helen Wiloch and Herbert Barhydt on September 11th, 1938 in Schenectady. Marolynn has joined in heaven her two predeceased brothers, Ronald and Herbert “John” Barhydt, as well as her sister-in-law, Noreen Budlong, and brother-in-law, William Jensen. She is now reunited with her lifelong best friend, Barbara Henderson. After graduating from Nott Terrace High School, Marolynn worked at the Carl Company, Denby’s, and the Schenectady County Board of Elections on voting days. However, the career Marolynn was most well-known for was, what she termed, “A Domestic Goddess.” Marolynn was proud of her Polish heritage and was known as “Babcia” to her grandchildren. Her holiday decorating and preparation were unrivaled, and she would scour Hallmark catalogs and QVC commercials months before the holiday season even began. Marolynn also looked forward to her nightly routine spent with a beloved dog curled up next to her while watching Entertainment Tonight and reality television before the late night talk shows. Her love for her pets and all animals brought joy to her throughout her life. Marolynn is survived by her husband, Lanny, whom she married over 62 years ago on April 17th, 1960. Her greatest passion in life was being a loving mother to her two children, Lanny J. Jensen (Colleen) and Leslie Leo-August (Peter), as well as to her four granddaughters: Alexandria Mastrianni (Vincent), Katie Leo (Tim Jeffreys), Courtney Jensen-Kryzkowski (Matthew), and Mollie August (Taryn Curran). Marolynn was also survived by five great-grandchildren: Cecilia and Leo Mastrianni, Couraira and Cerafina Jensen-Kryzkowski, and Lucy Jeffreys. Her family will forever miss her wit, thoughtfulness, and love. Marolynn also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Virginia Barhydt and Diane Jensen, as well as her brother-in-law, Dwight Jensen (Mary). Calling hours will be held at the Rotterdam DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady on Wednesday, July 13th from 9:15 - 10:15 am, followed by an 11:00 mass at St. Madeleine Sophie Church on Carmen Road in Schenectady. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Marolynn’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. Madeleine Sophie School.
