Mark H Smith

Rotterdam - Mark H Smith, 62, died in the loving arms of his significant other Tina Brooker at Ellis Hospital on November 15, 2014. Mark was born in Sidney NY on October 18, 1952, the only child of the late Rev. Gordon and Charline Smith. He attended the College of Saint Rose earning a BA in Finance. Mark also attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.He was employed for 14 years by General Electric where he was selected and graduated from GE's prestigious Financial Management Program. In 1986, Mark became a NYS employee with the Dept of Corrections.He retired in June 2013, from NYS Higher Education Services.Mark was an avid fisherman. Fishing took Mark to many lakes, including Lake Powell in Utah and Lake Okeechobee in Florida.He was a member of several fishing clubs and participated in numerous tournaments.His favorite lake to fish was Saratoga.He enjoyed travelling, most recently to the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Florida. Mark was a faithful friend to many, especially Rick Hart who he loved like a brother.He is survived by: his significant other Tina Brooker; Chad and Adam Brooker; two sons Marc (Sarah)Smith and Sean (Jennifer) Smith; four grandchildren, Alexia, Caden, Macie and Kenzie.Mark is also survived by Robert and Carol Stanton; his niece Christine Stanton, and several cousins. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the City Mission of Schenectady or Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY
