Marjory Sommers Hokirk

SHARON SPRINGS - Marjory M. Sommers Hokirk born on September 23,1934 passed away at home on November 3, 2023. Proceeded in death by Richard (Dick) L. Hokirk the first, and daughter Janice A Tidball. She was the daughter of Bessie Sommers and Garrett Sommers. She grew up in the Woodlawn area of Schenectady, where she met her husband of 52 years. She was a homemaker for many years of seven children. She attended New Life Ministries for over 60 years. Marge and Dick loved to travel. They traveled across the whole United States and through Canada. Some of Marge and Dick‘s favorite activities were hiking, canoeing, and camping in the great outdoors. She volunteered at Habitat for Humanity for many years, and also made quilts and blankets for the indigenous people of the southwest. She had a very generous and giving spirit that everyone around her appreciated. She passed away with her family around her at home. Survived by Richard (Ann) Hokirk the second of Estill Springs, Tennessee. Larry (Wende) Hokirk of Rotterdam N.Y. Karen (Keith) Peterson of Burke N.Y. Becky (Dave) Myers of Petersham Massachusetts. Betty (S.James) Marshall of Sharon Springs N.Y. Lisa (Herb) Deering of Westerlo N.Y. She’s also survived by 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
