Marion Kay Stepnowski

Marion Kay Stepnowski, 88, of Mariaville Lake, died peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Ellis Hospital. Marion was born in Schenectady, the second daughter of the late Clarence F. and Madeline Swart Regeles. She and her late husband, Walter C. Stepnowski, Sr., were married 58 years at the time of his passing in 2012. Marion was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crafting, camping, fishing, cooking, gardening and canning, NASCAR Cup Series, western TV shows, and she looked forward to visits from people attending the annual Harley Rendezvous Classics; but, above all, spending time with family. Family was very important to her. Marion is survived by her children: Louise A. Johnson of Clifton Park; Mary J. (Garth) Dockstader of Lusby, MD; Catherine L. Gage of Rotterdam; Patricia M. (Robert) Marx of Mariaville Lake; Frances M. Stepnowski of Glenville; and Walter C. (Nancy O’Dell) Stepnowski, Jr. of Mariaville Lake; her brother-in-law, Robert J. Stepnowski, Sr. of Schenectady; and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Regeles of Columbus, GA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Marion was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Frank and Frances (Olszewski) Stepnowski; sister, Shirley Lape; brother, Leroy Regeles; sister-in-law, Yolanda Stepnowski, and son-in-law, Richard A. Johnson. Family and friends are invited to attend a calling period on Saturday, July19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with services beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam. The family is deeply grateful for the care and comfort provided by the outstanding staff from Rotterdam-Schenectady Dialysis Center, Our Lady of Mercy Life Center and Ellis Hospital.
