Marion (Mame) Ciancetta, 92, passed away peacefully, on May 2nd while at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Amsterdam, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Sophie Dellaria. Mame was a graduate of Scotia Glenville High School. After her graduation, she was employed by the U.S. Army Depot. Then she worked at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in the Finance Department for 19 years, from which she retired in 1987. She was also a board member and committee chairperson for the Kermis Club at Knolls. Mame was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Ciancetta and daughter in-law of the late Attilio and Laura Ciancetta. They were married on May 23rd, 1948, at St. Joseph’s Church in Scotia, N.Y., and spent over 62 wonderful years together. Al & Mame enjoyed spending winters at their home in Spring Hill, Florida, and traveling on wonderful trips to Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and the Caribbean Islands. They also both shared a passion for dancing and were always first on and last off the dance floor. Mame was the cherished mother of John A. (Rose) Ciancetta and Diane M. (Rocco) Peluso; dear grandmother of Angela (Jason) Peluso Chillemi, Nicole (John) Peluso McLaughlin, Jonathan (Rebecca Thompson) Ciancetta, and Shawn (Jenna) Twiss; loving great-grandmother of Kristian Rodriguez, Evangeline and Vivienne Chillemi, Ella and Chase Twiss; beloved sister-in-law of Mario (Muriel) Ciancetta, Mary (Dominick) Della Rocco, Jean Ciancetta, the late Aldino Ciancetta, Victor Ciancetta and Jean Babin. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Mame and Al were committed to their family, whom they loved very much and showered with care and support. Together, they shared many happy family celebrations, holidays and fun events. Good times were enjoyed with Al’s siblings and spouses, special friends, and wonderful neighbors in both Scotia and Guilderland. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-5 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Monday at St. Madeleine Sophie Church 3500 Carman Rd., Guilderland. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady. Contributions in Mame’s memory may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady.
