Marion Theresa Cammarere (Riggi)
November 4, 1926 – March 16, 2026
Marion Cammarere (Riggi), of Schenectady, New York, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 99 years old.
Born on November 4, 1926, in Schenectady, Marion began her working years as a cook in several local school districts, where she lovingly prepared meals for hundreds of children. Her warmth and care in the kitchen would become a lifelong expression of who she was, a nurturer at heart.
Marion met the love of her life, Joseph “Joe” Cammarere, and from the very beginning, they were inseparable. They married in 1946 and built a life centered on devotion, partnership, and family. Their love was enduring and steadfast, and we take comfort in knowing they are now reunited in heaven.
A faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Marion’s faith was an enormous light in her life. It guided her with quiet strength, grace, and compassion, and was reflected in the way she cared for others and lived each day with love and humility.
Family was everything to Marion. Her home was the heart of it all. It was a place where generations gathered around her table for Sunday dinners and holidays. Countless memories were made there. Her Italian cookie trays were legendary and became a beloved tradition. Her door was always open, and her love was always abundant.
Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph; her parents, Angelo and Marietta (Costanzo) Riggi; her siblings; and many dear nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy Piccola; her son, Dom (Lesley) Cammarere; her cherished grandchildren, Gina (Eric) Winkler-Spanswick, Joseph (Melissa) Cammarere, and Elizabeth (Shane) Cammarere. She adored her great-grandson, Lucas Winkler; her dear sister-in-law, Connie Cammarene; and many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom she held close to her heart.
Marion cared deeply for her friends, whom became family to her during her 24 years at Mont Pleasant Commons.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her devoted aides Rae, Toni, and Nancy. Their compassion, kindness, and love meant so much to Marion and to all who loved her.
Marion’s legacy is one of love, faith, strength, and unwavering devotion to family. She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories that will be cherished forever.
