Rotterdam – Marion A. Burrows, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025, after a short illness. Marion was born in Meriden, CT, on March 22, 1928. She was the daughter of Theodore and Antoinette Suchoski. Marion enjoyed a long and interesting life. In 1945, Marion graduated from Meriden High School before attending Central Connecticut College, where she received her BS and MS in elementary education and administration. She then taught in Meriden, CT, for four years in elementary school. Marion was accepted to teach for the dependent schools of the US Air Force in Sidi Slimane, Morocco. In Morocco, she traveled extensively from the Atlas Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean, Casablanca, and through the desert to Marrakech, where she met her future husband, who was also teaching for the Air Force. They were both sent to Bitburg, Germany, for their second year, where they were married in Bern, Switzerland. For their third year overseas, they, as a couple, were sent to Burtonwood, England. They decided to return to the USA to have their first child at the end of the year. They settled in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where both their sons were born. Marion worked in administration in Grove City before moving to Illinois, where she took courses in Library Science and taught and supervised student teachers for Illinois Wesleyan College and taught seventh grade in a private school. Marion and Bob came to Albany, where Marion taught 6th and 7th grade science in Schalmont Middle School for twelve years and Woestina Elementary School for eight years. She retired after 20 years and enjoyed her garden, antiquing, reading, playing bridge, and doing puzzles of all kinds. Marion always searched for answers and knowledge. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Robert Burrows, after 60 years of marriage, and her brother Theodore Suchoski. She is survived by her two sons, Robert J. and Peter K. Burrows, both of Rotterdam, her niece, Joanne Fabrycki, and her husband Edward, their children Nina and Trey, along with several cousins. Marion also leaves behind her canine companion, Boots. Funeral services for Marion will be private, with burial at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery.
