Mario D Ferri

SCHENECTADY - Mario Ferri, 82, passed away into the hands of the Lord on September 29, 2015 at the Ellis Residential Center after a brief illness. Mario was born in Schenectady, NY on July 23, 1933, to the late Pasquale and Anna (Mancini) Ferri. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his brother, John Ferri. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and cousin totally devoted to caring for his loving mother, Anna.A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in 1951, he served his country honorably in the United States Army in the 9th Infantry Division from 1953-1955. He was the owner of Mario's Ice Cream on Route 50 in Ballston Spa, NY and renowned for his deliciously creamy ice cream, especially his van-orange. Mario was also predeceased by other family members, including his uncle Anthony Ferri.Survivors include his aunt, Sylvia Palombo, several nephews, a great niece, and cousins. Also special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Ellis Residential Center who provided excellent and compassionate care during his stay. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 1:00 pm at The DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, NY12306.Interment will follow at St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Ave., Schenectady, NY.
