Rotterdam - Mario "Moe" DiCocco, 86, died peacefully on Monday December 22, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Mario was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Fracasso). Hebegan his work career as a Teamster with Wilson Freight and finished his employment as a truck driver with Golub Corp. Mariowas a decorated veteran of the Korean War who attained the rank of Corporal. He was a devoted family man, who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren Mario was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years Dorothy "Dot" DiCocco; brother, Lorenzo "Larry" DiCocco; sisters, Helen Malin, Lucy Baestlein; brother-in-law, Ronald Massaroni and his special niece, JoAnn McClaine. Mario's survivors include: his beloved children Kathy (Michael) Griesemer, David (Mary) DiCocco; his beloved grandchildren, Erika, Amanda and Michael Griesemer, Stephanie, Michael. Alexis, Eric, and Angelica DiCocco who Moe for many years loved spending time with, and attending their sports events. He is also survived by a sister, Santina "Zibby" Massaroni; brother-in-law William Baestlein. Moe is also survived by 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Moe had many wonderful friends and he especially enjoyed meeting some of them at the mall for coffee, including his great friends of many years, Joe Piccirillo and Arlene Parisi, who checked on Moe daily. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 26 from 5 to 7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Friends are also invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Saturday 9:30am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd. Rotterdam. His burial will follow in St. Cyril Cemetery, Rotterdam. Mario's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Piacentine and also the Ellis Visiting Nurses.
