Marilyn (Roach) Cary

July 2, 1940 — February 16, 2016

Marilyn R. Cary, 75, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Born in Utica, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Gerald and Marion (Cogovan) Roach. Marilyn was a graduate of New Hartford High School and Russell Sage College. She worked for Upstate Home Care in Kirkland until 2011. Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leon M. Cary, Jr. in 1995. She loved her children and grandchildren first and foremost. She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Andrew) Quinn and her son Christopher (Nicole) Cary. Her beloved grandsons, Daniel, William and Andrew Charles Quinn, and granddaughter Melody Marie Cary were the light of her life.Marilyn was also fortunate enough to have shared her lifetime with her husband Leon's children and grandchildren. Peter (Dayna) Cary, Susan Mistico (Mark Wilkinson), Robert (Anne) Cary, Kenneth Cary, Carol (Jeff) Gilchriest, Paul (Jody) Joslin, Kelly (Terry) Reilly and their families were a beautiful part of her life. She also held a special place in her heart for her niece, Mary Jane Roach. Marilyn is also survived by a brother, Donald Roach (Erika) of Palm Coast, Florida,sisters-in-law, Mary Theresa Roach of Utica and Mary Joan Roach of Whitesboro and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by brothers Gerald and John Roach and sisters Shirley Gilfus and Jean Reardon. The family wishes to thank the former staff of McAuley Assisted Living Facility and Teresian House Nursing Home in Albany for their outstanding care and compassion over the past few years. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Marilyn's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
