Marie L (Grato) Smylie

Marie L. Smylie, 81 of Rotterdam, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Manhattan, NYMarie was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Mule Grato. She was employed as a seamstress at Cohoes Manufacturing for many years. In addition to her parents, Marie was also predeceased by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Smylie who died on February 17, 2013. She is survived by her son Steven Smylie and grandson Christopher Smylie, her adopted niece; Anne V. Hein and adopted great nieces and nephews; Jayda, Tanya-Lee, Jovanni and Tanya. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 12 noon - 2 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. It was Marie's wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial donation be made to the City Mission of Schenectady, P.O. Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301 or to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 918, Schenectady, NY, 12301.
